QUESTIONS
How long does custom software take to build?
A focused tool, like a quote calculator or a simple customer portal, usually takes 3 to 6 weeks. Large systems that bring together quoting, ordering, stock and reporting take 3 months or so, delivered in stages so you can start using the most important parts within the first few weeks.
I also offer a sprint week option to build a working prototype of your application within a week.
How much does custom software cost?
Smaller applications start from $5,000. Large business systems range from $15,000 to $50,000+. After a free first meeting I'll give you a fixed quote for the agreed scope, so there are no surprises. Ongoing hosting, support and improvements are available on a monthly plan.
Do you use overseas developers?
No. I design and build everything myself here in Perth, and I don't outsource your project overseas. You deal with the person writing the code, your data stays in Australia, and I'm available in the same time zone when you need help.
What technologies do you use to build web applications?
I build modern web applications that run in any browser, on desktop, tablet or phone. My usual tools are JavaScript and TypeScript, Node.js, Deno, Vue, Nuxt, Alpine.js, PHP, Postgres, MySQL, Figma, Craft CMS, and Australian cloud hosting, with integrations for Xero, email, Stripe and AI services from OpenAI and Anthropic. I choose proven, well-supported technology so your software is easy to maintain for years.
Do you build mobile apps?
Yes. Most business tools work best as web apps that run on any phone, tablet or computer, and can be added to the home screen just like an app, with no app store needed. I also build iPhone and Android apps for the App Store and Google Play when you need features like offline access or push notifications.
Who owns the software and the code?
You do. The software is built for your business, and you own the code and your data. You're never locked in, and another developer could take it over if you ever needed them to.
Can you replace our spreadsheets or connect to our existing systems?
Yes. Most projects start with spreadsheets, an old database or a mix of systems. I bring your existing data across and connect to the tools you already use, such as Xero, your online store, freight providers or email, so you're not starting from scratch.
Do you provide hosting and support after launch?
Yes. I can host your software on secure Australian servers, keep it backed up and up to date, and fix any issues quickly. Many clients keep improving their system over time as their business grows.
How do you use AI in business software, and is our data safe?
I use AI to help build software faster, and to add practical features like reading documents, drafting quotes and answering questions. Your data is kept private and is never used to train AI models, and a person always stays in control of important decisions.

Yes. My office is located on level 1 of the beautiful Manning Buildings along the High Street mall in Fremantle, the port suburb of Perth, Western Australia. A working container port, historic buildings, Bathers Beach, Swan River, cafes, boutique shopping, galleries – it's a great place to work.
