SalaryOne is a Perth-based remuneration and workforce benchmarking firm that works with not-for-profit organisations, local government, aged care providers, health services, and community organisations across Australia. Their value proposition is straightforward: member organisations contribute their salary and workforce data, and in return gain access to aggregated benchmarking insights that help them set competitive, fair, and defensible pay structures.

For years, the annual survey had been run through SurveyMonkey. It did the job of collecting responses, but it wasn't built for this kind of structured benchmarking data — and the gaps showed. Survey logic was limited, meaning the questionnaire couldn't adapt based on an organisation's sector or award conditions. Data came back in flat CSV exports that required significant manual cleaning before it could be used. And because SurveyMonkey had no concept of a returning member, there was no way to pre-populate known fields, track participation history, or flag organisations that hadn't yet submitted.

Once the survey closed, the real work began: the consulting team would spend weeks reconciling responses, normalising job titles across sectors, building comparison tables in Excel, and producing individual PDF reports for each member. As the client base grew, this manual workload grew with it. The spreadsheet model was reaching its limits.

The brief was to build a proper online platform: a secure, member-only portal where organisations could log in, search salary data dynamically, run their own comparisons, and access tools and summary dashboards.

A secure, searchable benchmarking portal that does the work for clients

The platform works in two directions. Each year, member organisations complete structured online surveys through the portal — submitting their salary and workforce data role by role, across every position in scope. That data feeds directly into the benchmarking database, where it is validated, aggregated, and made available to all participants. The survey is the input; everything else is the output.

Behind the member login, clients access a suite of tools that transform that aggregated data into actionable intelligence — search, filter, compare, and download — without any SalaryOne staff involvement. The system handles multiple distinct survey streams, each with its own participant group, data structure, and reporting requirements. An aged care organisation and a local council don't look at the same benchmarks — the platform serves each sector appropriately within the one login environment.

Annual online data collection surveys
Member organisations complete structured annual surveys through the portal — submitting salary and workforce data for every role in scope. The survey interface guides HR managers through each position, validates entries in real time, and tracks completion progress. Once submitted, data flows directly into the benchmarking database, eliminating the manual collection and data-entry process entirely.
Salary search & benchmarking tools
Members search salary data by role, sector, organisation size, and location — getting instant benchmarking results rather than waiting for an annual report. Search tools are updated when new survey data is loaded, giving clients a current view year-round.
Dashboards & workforce analytics
Visual dashboards give HR managers and executives a high-level view of remuneration trends, workforce composition, and how their organisation compares to sector peers — presented clearly for decision-makers who aren't data analysts.
Annual Pay Guide & survey reports
Published survey results — including the Annual Pay Guide — are made available through the portal as structured, searchable content rather than static PDFs. New data releases are loaded by the SalaryOne team without developer involvement.
CEO 360 & board review surveys
Online survey tools for CEO 360-degree feedback and board performance reviews — run directly through the portal with managed participant access, automated collection, and results presented in a consistent format for the board or remuneration committee.
Secure member access & multi-survey portals
